Robert Kiyosaki’s dad wasn’t well off but he was university educated. His dad worked as a University lecturer and encouraged his son to study hard and to follow in his footsteps.
Robert had a friend however, whose dad was uneducated but had all the trimmings of wealth. His friend’s dad was a businessman. It was a puzzle to the child Robert why the uneducated dad should have a higher financial status than his own, educated dad, and Robert decided to unlock the secrets of making money.
As a first attempt was, he, with his friend flattened out bottle tops, and took them to his friend’s father as something that looked like money. The Rich Dad took pity on them, took the pair under his wing and the rest is history in the annuls of financial education.
Robert ultimately broadened the definition of intelligence from academic intelligence to include all sorts of intelligence, including financial intelligence, and became a great financial educator.
His first book Rich Dad Poor Dad describes in highly readable form, his personal journey. And The Cashflow Quadrant follows this describing what comprises the slightly more technical development of an individual from employee to entrepreneur.
Robert by this time, had developed the Velcro cloth wallet and made his fortune.
Why isn’t the material Robert advocates taught in schools? Because if it was, every graduate of schooling would want to become an entrepreneur and none would be drawn to the employee sector.
